Sarah visit

When we had a weekend off from weddings the weekend of the 14th, Sarah came to spend the night with us. This was the first time Sarah stayed with us and we really enjoyed her visit. I think mom and dad might have enjoyed having only one person under 18 in the house for a night… We hope this is just the beginning of our fun times together.

As we were leaving the restaurant where we had lunch with Sarah and her family to pick her up – Mercado Juarez, yum! – I was trying to think of activities for Sarah and I to do. I remembered that we still had rocks that needed to be moved in our yard. So Sunday morning, while it was still cool, we put her to work.

Not to far along, we under covered this little guy. Can you see him sleeping in the rocks?

And few more rocks moved and he was ready to move.

After Sunday lunch at Chicken Express – Sarah loved the mash potatoes and gravy, we headed back to the house where Sarah helped me make jello for the evening’s dessert.

While we were working on the jello, Steve was doing his normal flood activity of searching online for somewhere he could possibly ride his mountain bike.

Scary realization for us, Sarah age 5.5 per her, 5.75 to us (her birthday is in August), did not know who this face belongs to. We told her it was Kermit but she kept calling him Hermit. When did Kermit fall out of children’s graces? I bought the set that goes with this cup for Adrienne visits (Sarah’s big sis) I guess about 10-11 years ago when she would visit us. I know everyone is into Sponge Bob and Elmo but my heart breaks for Kermit…

Obviously Kim and Steve’s house isn’t baby set-up. I remember this being done to me and my siblings when we visited my great-aunt Ruby’s house.

100 Classes

In January of this year, I walked away from a long history with American Airlines. If I had stayed, this November I would have celebrated 20 years of working with them but it was time to go and pursue my photography dreams. Most of January was spent travelling to different conventions – Special Event in Los Angeles, PPA (Professional Photographers Assoc) in San Antonio and SPA (Senior Portrait Artists) which was also in San Antonio.

After being on the road a lot, I decided upon returning I need to find a work out option because I didn’t want to become one of the ever growing photographers. So the last week of January, I started taking Jazzercize at the Grapevine Activity Center. My goal was 4 times a week. I promised myslef, if I made 4 times a week for every week thru the end of 2007, I would allow myself to possibly be rewarded with something like lipo if I felt I still needed it after working out that much.

Well I have kept faithful – when there is a week that I can’t make 4 times, I either go more the previous week or make up for it the following week. Yesterday, I was rewarded with a t-shirt for making 100 classes. Today will actually be my 103rd class. So of course, now I’m motivated to try and make the 200 class club by the end of 2007 – by doing 5 classes a week I can do this. I’m pretty much now trying to go everyday I can (only offered 6 days a week) but some days I can’t do Saturday because of weddings and clients. Before long, I’ll probably start adding a little additional weight training within the activity center because my arms don’t show the toning I want them to.

I feel great about the impact part, my circulation and my stamina. Steve says he likes the feel of everything. I’m afraid at now 42, I can’t get my body back to where it once was – aging can be mean. And after so many years sitting at AA, I’m just glad to be able to justify my sweet tooth fulfillment.
